Dr. Rita Nwokeji who is a trained nurse has her educational qualifications which includes Bachelor’s degree in education second class honours upper division.  higher diploma in psychiatric nursing from Middlesex University and had earlier worked with Camden and Islington Mental Health and social care NHS Foundation Trust for 19 years and 4 months. She also did different courses such as Teaching and assessing in clinical practice.  With these courses she taught and mentored a great number of students for the 16 years where she was a Deputy Manager and was the link person with Middlesex University for that number of years, presenting the learning needs of her students, their progress or lack of progress to the University. 

Rita organise meetings with the University link lecturers to discuss how to support a student that seems to be struggling with meeting up with the placement criteria.  She also did courses on working with severe and enduring mentally Ill, took a course on Family focused intervention and some in house work on Cognitive behaviour Therapy.  All these were very beneficial in her work with patients, their families, staff as well as the wider society. Rita Nwokeji who had been in sensitive position of making decisions that impact positively on staff, patients and their relatives is now retired from NHS still provides services to her client group through agency work.

Rita Nwokeji who was a keen advocate for social inclusion for those with mental health problems particularly went into mental health nursing because she greatly empathises with mentally ill in our society because they are marginalised, stigmatised and discriminated against.

Rita is a member of the Rotary Club of Hendon.  The Rotary club is known for their charity work all over the world. She help organise fund raising for the Rotary club from which proceed they use in helping hospices, disabled children and anyone in her community that is in need. 

Rita had embarked on several projects in Nigeria on medical mission with her team where they gave free medical treatments to over three thousand people.

Having reviewed and analyzed all that Rita Nwokeji has done to help humanity, The Nelas Academy nominated research committee nominated her for The 14th Nelas Academy Awards scheduled to hold at the Nicon Luxury Abuja on 27 Oct, 2019.
