Acting High Commissioner of Jamaica to Nigeria, 2018-2019

John Clarke served as Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Nigeria for the period February 2018 to January 2019.

During his tenure as Acting High Commissioner he was able to strengthen the ties between Jamaica and Nigeria particularly at the cultural level. This resulted in direct engagement of Nollywood executives and executives in Jamaica’s film industry to explore opportunities for the Jamaican and Nigerian film industries to collaborate and facilitate knowledge transfer.  A Nigerian film industry delegation visited Jamaica in December 2018.

Prior to his tenure in Nigeria, Mr. Clarke served in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Japan. He is a career diplomat with over 20 years’ experience in the Jamaican Foreign Service.

He is currently the Corporate Planner in the Policy & Planning Division of  Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade in Kingston.

Having reviewed and analyzed all that Mr. Clarke has done to help humanity, The Nelas Academy nominated research committee nominated her for The 14th Nelas Academy Awards scheduled to hold at the Nicon Luxury Abuja on 27 Oct, 2019.
